Australian Subaru and Toyota dealerships have sent out a recall on valve springs in Toyota 86 and Subaru Impreza, XV, Forester and BRZ. This effects 5,407 Toyota 86 vehicles produced from April 2012 to July 2013.

The Subaru recalls affect over 24,000 cars including Impreza models from year 2012-2013, as well as XV and Forester vehicles fitted with a 2.0-litre engine (manufactured January 16, 2012, to May 14, 2013). The issue also affects BRZ vehicles – manufactured from start of production to May 14, 2013.

High stress and sub standard material quality appears to be the likely cause, and may lead to fracture or breakage of the spring and cause power lose to your car and cause further damage. Southside Cylinder Heads advise taking your vehicle back to the dealership for a warranty repair to rectify problem.
